
Do you have to break your tissue to do a full middle split?
I haven’t gotten my full middle split yet, and my friend told me that you had to break your tissue, is that true?
No. Building strength is matter of making tiny tears in your tissue and your muscle building up stronger over the tears.
Becoming flexible is a case of lengthening and increasing the arange of your muscles. Your muscles ‘know’ when they’re at their maximum stretch and have an inbuilt mechanism to stop you going beyond that point. The stretch trains your muscle to let you go a little further. The muscle will become longer and also allow you to go a little further next time.
If you tear it, it will build back a little stronger and a little less felxible, to protect you, so injury won’t hhelp flexibility.
